Recycling Education for Your Classroom

The following are recycling themes and the lessons are adapted to each grade. Lessons last approximately 1 hour each.

Nature’s Way with Waste · Lessons address the ability to make choices. · Lessons focus on natural resources and man-made items, trash and litter. Trash Cycle in the School · Lessons address the accountability for actions and classifying objects. · Lessons focus on trash in the schools along with the awareness that recycling is an alternative to disposal. Trash Cycle in the Community · Lessons address self-direction in the community. · Lessons focus on recycling in the community and the awareness of the amount of trash and garbage that is thrown away. Recycle Lifecycle · Lessons address how people make the community a better place to live by preserving the environment. · Lessons focus on the 3 R’s: reduce, reuse and recycle. Composting · Lessons address the characteristics of simple physical and chemical changes. · Lessons focus on decomposition and making composting piles. Techno-Fill · Lessons address the positive and negative impacts of human activity on the environment. · Lessons focus on waste alternative methods and the structure, design and purpose of a landfill.
